Are Casa Cubista ceramics handmade?
Yes, all Casa Cubista ceramics are handmade by skilled Portuguese artisans. Each piece is individually crafted using traditional techniques passed down through generations, meaning no two items are exactly alike.
When you buy Casa Cubista ceramics, you're investing in authentic, hand-crafted quality with real human stories behind it.
Why do Casa Cubista terracotta pieces vary in appearance?
All Casa Cubista pieces are handmade and hand-painted, so some marks in the glaze are natural and expected, as is some crazing - neither will affect the use or durability of the pieces.
Since all patterns are also painted by hand, differences in size, pattern, colour intensity and painting style between shipments are to be expected.
How do I prepare my Casa Cubista terracotta pieces before using them for the first time?
Prior to first use, all pieces must be washed by hand in hot soapy water, well rinsed and allowed to air dry. To maintain the integrity of the pieces - including colour and glaze - dishwasher use is not recommended.
Can Casa Cubista terracotta pieces be used to store food or liquids?
Terracotta is naturally a porous material. While the porous nature of food-safe glazed terracotta will decrease over time and with continued use, Casa Cubista does not recommend the pieces be used as long-term storage for food or liquids.
Delicate surfaces that may be affected by water marks should also be protected.
How should I care for a Casa Cubista terracotta vase, jug or pitcher?
If using a terracotta vase, pitcher or jug as a vase, water should be changed daily and delicate surfaces protected from water marks. All jugs, pitchers and vases are shipped with a dual-language product information card covering this guidance.
Can Casa Cubista terracotta go in the oven or microwave?
Casa Cubista terracotta is not oven safe. Microwave use is suggested only for brief reheating, not cooking.
How should I store Casa Cubista terracotta dishware?
Before storing, all pieces must be completely dry. Casa Cubista recommends storing terracotta dishware upside-down in a well-ventilated area.
