Is Stainless Steel the Best Container to Store Olive Oil In?
Olive oil dispensers are great! Aside from being handy utensils to pour olive oil cleanly and easily, they look elegant in any kitchen or dining table. Which kind should you get though?
There’s no doubt that a stainless steel oil pourer is a very popular choice.
For one thing, it’s excellent at keeping the oil’s flavour fresh: it’s very effective at protecting it from the air and the light, so it doesn’t oxidise, and on the other hand, the material doesn’t react with the oil on the contact surface, even after it’s stored for a while, so the flavour remains unchanged. And of course, it’s famously resistant to corrosion.
Aside from these practical qualities, a stainless steel olive oil container can be a gorgeous decorative element. One with a stylish design will add a great modern touch to any kitchen.
How Do I Clean a Stainless Steel Olive Oil Container?
Very easily, and you should do so with some regularity. That’ll ensure that it remains hygienic and uncontaminated.
Start by pouring out any remaining olive oil. Wash the container with warm water and soap. scrubbing gently with a piece of cloth. Rinse with water to make sure that you remove any soap residue.
For a more comprehensive cleaning, especially if there's oil build up, use a paste made with baking soda and water, applying it to the affected areas, and scrub gently. Then rinse and dry completely with a towel, to prevent water spots.
