To ensure that non-fire rated cork wall tiles are safe for commercial use, it is necessary to apply a fire retardant coating after installation. The Envirograf ES/VFRC Clear coating, made in the UK, offers a durable solution for all internal applications of cork wall tiles.
A cork wall tile of 3mm of thickness with two coats of this fire retardant (1L per 10m2) will achieve a fire resistance classification of B-s2,d2.
The tiles can be installed normally and the fire retardant coating can be applied after the adhesive has fully cured, using either a brush or roller. The base coat typically dries within an hour, allowing for large areas to be completed in a day.
